Zagreb, 29 October 2016 - Dr. Vernesa Sofić-Drino, a young doctor at Svjetlost - eye clinic in Sarajevo, is the winner of this year's award for the best scientific work of young ophthalmologists awarded by the Foundation of prof. dr. Ljiljana Zergollern and Krešimir Čupak. Dr. Sofić-Drino at the 12th Annual Congress of the Croatian Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery (CSCRS) presented a paper on the topic "Photothermal Stimulation of the Macula for Treatment of Central Serous Retinopathy". This work won first place among 18 young ophthalmologists from Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The foundation which the couple Zergollern Čupak founded in 2009 has given 19 scholarships so far to students of doctoral studies specialized in pediatrics and ophthalmology, as well as awarded 32 cash prizes for the best works of young  ophthalmologists  .
