Education

Doctor Alma Biščević completed in 2008 the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sarajevo. After the internship, she continued with the specialist training in the field of ophthalmology at the University Eye Hospital "Svjetlost" in Zagreb, mentored by professor  Nikica Gabrić and professor Iva Dekaris. She passed the specialization exam in 2014. Since 2015 she has been working at  Svjetlost Eye Clinic in Sarajevo.

She competed the specialist study in ophthalmology at the University of Zagreb in 2013. In 2016 she completed a postgraduate study and research in the field of "Biomedicine and Health" .

Doctoral dissertation defended on the thesis : A Prospective Comparison of Two Laser Platforms in the Treatment of High Astigmatism by Laser in Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK). in 2019.

Field of work

Doctor Alma Biščević deals with the anterior segment of the eye, refractive surgery and corneal diseases. She completed training in the field of refractive surgery in Zagreb, mentored by professor Nikica Gabrić, MD, Maja Bohač, MD and Marija Antičić, MD and at the international centers of excellence (Schwind, Germany). She completed training in corneal diseases, with an emphasis on corneal transplantation, mentored by professor Iva Dekaris.

Doctor Alma Biščević specializes in the field of refractive surgery. So far she has performed surgeries in five countries in the region (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia and  Montenegro) on 5 different lasers. Doctor Alma Biščević has so far performed more than 15.000 different procedures of laser vision correction.
